What is your favorite horror movie related item in your shop at this very moment and why?
I don't really have a favorite item in my shop, I love all of my work equally; they are all my little ghoulish children. Most of my work is iconic movie figures and characters from classic film and fairytales cast into a horror genre. I like taking something innocent and adding a monstrous twist to it. I guess right now the most recent painting is "If I could Only Eat your Brains". Its my take on scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. It just mad sense to me to make that character into a zombie since he spends the whole film searching for brains.
What is it about horror movies that inspires you and your art??
When I first started pursuing career in art I was really influenced by comic art and anime. I went to college to study illustration and animation and had every intention on becoming a comic artist or animator. However as I pushed forward into tattooing and fine art more and more I looked towards horror films for reference rather than illustrations. I guess as I matured as an artist I wanted to give my work a more detailed realistic feel. I went through a phase in my early 20's where I was obsessed with foreign horror movies and that impacted my work tremendously. There has been something lacking in American horror films for a long time now. Lately it seems all American horror has to offer is re-makes of the classic horror films or they butcher a foreign horror film and release it in the US. Directors in Korea and Japan really push the envelope in gore dept, they just don't hold back.
Why did you join the Etsy Massacre Team?
I joined the Etsy Massacre team because I was invited to do so. I guess my shop was discovered and the people here enjoyed my work enough to ask me to join. It's always nice to meet and discover other dark fantasy artists
