Prim and Grim at the Mile High Horror Film Festival

This past weekend, the annual Mile High Horror Film Festival took over the Alamo Draft House in Littleton, Colorado. It was the 5th anniversary for the festival, which keeps getting bigger and better with every subsequent year. In addition to spectacular feature and short films from all over the world, the festival hosts celebrity guests, artists, musicians, vendors, tarot readings, sideshow acts, a costume contest, and a “Monster Ball.”

I have been “involved” with the MHHFF for three years now, beginning as a volunteer in 2012, then as a member in 2013, and most recently as both a member and a vendor. I was very lucky to be able to bring Prim and Grim to the MHHFF this year. Among some of the things I brought were creepy-cute doll head string lights and garlands, antique tin doll head lamps, a repurposed Charlie McCarthy ventriloquist dummy, and a plethora of creepy/retro jewelry to share with the horror community. Everything was well-received (I even ended up selling my backdrop on the last night), and I feel honored to finally be able to give back to the festival again through my creepy-chic wares.

I couldn’t have done it without the MHHFF staff and volunteers, who work so hard every year to make the festival one of the top horror film festivals in the world. It also wouldn’t have been possible without the continuous and ongoing help and support of my amazing husband. Because of all of you, I am proud to say that Prim and Grim received both an outpouring of positive feedback (even from horror icon Tony Todd), and also a permanent representation in the Alamo Drafthouse lobby where one of my lamps is now permanently on display.

I am happy to announce that Prim and Grim has been asked to return to the festival for 2015, and I have already started planning for next year. In the meantime, I will continue to keep a smattering of things stocked in the Etsy shop, which you can find HERE.

Thank you all again for a wonderful year of horror! - Allison
