Living Dead Girl Nicole at Days of the Dead
My amazing weekend summed up in photos....
Meeting one of my all time favorite actresses Rose McGowan and giving her the portrait that I drew of her as Cherry Darling.
The best part.. she was an absolute doll in person. Just how I had imagined her. She was so excited when I told her she got to keep the piece of art that I drew of her. She even gave me a big hug and told me how her father and husband are also artists. It was great to hear how much she appreciates the arts in general. Might I add she is absolutely gorgeous in person! Wow! Girl crush approved! ;)
I also was stoked because I got to see Sid again. It’s seems like forever since I have gotten to play catch up with him in person at a con. I got lucky and cross paths with him in the hall so I didn’t have to wait in line and actually got to talk for a little bit. He told me how happy he was to see me out amongst everyone again (he follows my gofundme). He gave me a big hug and told me to stay well. Seeing him again totally made the con that much more wonderful.
I have not been able to go to a con for the last 2 years due to all of my surgeries so this weekend was very memorable for me. I got asked to enter the tattoo contest they were having but due to us waiting on the photo op pics I missed it. Maybe next year. It was pretty cool that they pulled me a side to tell me I should enter when they saw my work. Oh and to make the con complete this obnoxious and amazing cardigan sweater is all mine thanks to the greatest husband in the world ;) He got the last one! SCORE!
Check out some of my other memorable con moments on the bio page of my official website!

Prim and Grim at the Mile High Horror Film Festival
This past weekend, the annual Mile High Horror Film Festival took over the Alamo Draft House in Littleton, Colorado. It was the 5th anniversary for the festival, which keeps getting bigger and better with every subsequent year. In addition to spectacular feature and short films from all over the world, the festival hosts celebrity guests, artists, musicians, vendors, tarot readings, sideshow acts, a costume contest, and a “Monster Ball.”

I have been “involved” with the MHHFF for three years now, beginning as a volunteer in 2012, then as a member in 2013, and most recently as both a member and a vendor. I was very lucky to be able to bring Prim and Grim to the MHHFF this year. Among some of the things I brought were creepy-cute doll head string lights and garlands, antique tin doll head lamps, a repurposed Charlie McCarthy ventriloquist dummy, and a plethora of creepy/retro jewelry to share with the horror community. Everything was well-received (I even ended up selling my backdrop on the last night), and I feel honored to finally be able to give back to the festival again through my creepy-chic wares.

I am happy to announce that Prim and Grim has been asked to return to the festival for 2015, and I have already started planning for next year. In the meantime, I will continue to keep a smattering of things stocked in the Etsy shop, which you can find HERE.
Thank you all again for a wonderful year of horror! - Allison

IT'S ALIVE!!! The very first Etsy Massacre Team - Ghoullery Feature!!
We put a lot of thought into this feature. With the summer coming to an end and our favorite season creeping it's way in we decided the perfect theme would "I Know What You Did Last Summer". On top of it, what better day then today to do a feature made up of horror fanatic artists then on Elvira's Birthday!
You can check out the feature here: http://etsymassacre.blogspot.com/p/ghoullery-feature.html

Sick and Twisted Thoughts: Prim and Grim
The horror community is amazingly supportive... check out this awesome interview for Etsy Massacre Team member PrimandGrim!
Here's an excerpt:
When did you start crafting and how did you get started?
I’ve been artistic going as far back as my memories allow, but if I had to pick a specific time that I really got excited about crafting it would have been in kindergarten. There was one particular activity with crayons and hot plates that I think really sparked my passion for arts and crafts. Using electricity to heat and melt crayons made regular coloring boring, and the way that melted crayons looked on paper was just… So… Awesome! I still get excited about it even though my adult self wouldn’t sit down and melt crayons.
As far as crafting with the purpose of opening an Etsy shop, I think it really began when I discovered steampunk a few years ago. Awhile back, my mom had bought me this jade pendant for my birthday. The jade was so valuable (both emotionally and monetarily), and the cord that it came with was so cheap and boring, that it seemed a disservice to the jade itself to wear it that way. So instead of wear it, it just sat in a drawer for years. When I discovered steampunk, I discovered it in the form of jewelry. It wasn’t as popular as it was now, so finding a wearable jewelry version wasn’t as easy. I decided to try to make myself a Steampunk necklace with the jade pendant as the center. Finally, I had a cool way to wear my birthday present! I wore it to a party one day and someone asked me if I was an artist… I had never considered myself one before. I said, “No, I just make jewelry occasionally,” and the person replied with a firm, “No, you are an artist. You should open a shop.”

Thanks to AGhoulsBestFriend for a hauntingly good time!

Re-Blog: Back Bone: Creepy Pasta Fundraiser Setup for Stabbing Victim
Re-blog from Artwork By Living Dead Girl Nicole:
I am really getting upset with the people who are blaming the parents for being into dark art, horror movies and heavy metal as a scapegoat as to why these 12 year old girls attacked and attempted to murder their friend in Wisconsin. We should be focusing the blame on the fact that these girls did not have remorse and the fact that they can not define reality from fantasy! I have been into horror, Halloween, the macabre, listening to hard rock and heavy metal music since before I was their age and you don't see me out killing anyone.
Creepy Pasta (the site that these girls claim to be following the Slender Man stories on) put this into a great perspective on their You Caring site that they have set up to raise money for the victim.
In the wake of this cruel event, many people have begun pointing fingers at the Slender-man mythology and by guilt of association, the Creepy Pasta sub-genre of horror. It is creativity at its root. A set of stories written by some and enjoyed by others. Much akin to our urban tales of old and the books written by our literary giants. It is imperative to understand that these things, like almost all works of the horror literary genre, are fiction. Many of these stories yes, are filled with an illusion of reality to them in an effort to make them much more unnerving. However, that does not change the fact that they are concoctions of fantasy. Sure, some of these stories are based on historical events or based upon a well documented case whose elements are terrifying. But these accounts are again: for educational entertainment and are well documented for their truth and real life consequences.
It is considered by many that common sense is applied to fantasy and history. We do not repeat the actions of real life monsters. We do not attempt to replicate the fantasy. We do not in any way condone those who fail to realize the line between fantasy and committing an atrocity. Nor do we condone a lack of security on the parts of the minds of those who read them. Many times when accountability is called into question, the blame is placed not on the perpetrators, but on the supposed fictional root causes. In most cases, the accountability and responsibility is to the teacher who failed to impart the wisdom of what is real and right, and most importantly, failed to pay attention. Please take this moment, if you haven’t, to remember that many things can be avoided, if you teach and to listen.
Please spread this link to their fundraising page. Let's put this into the right perspective all while raising money for the victim.
Stay Spooky!

Is your shop massacre worthy?
We are looking for Etsy shop owners who create items inspired by the horror movie genre that want to join our team! We ask that anyone that applies and gets approved to keep in mind that we want members who will actively participate in our online team discussion board and participate as often as they can with cross promoting.
To read the rules of our team and apply please go to our team page on Etsy and apply!
